  4. Hi Alankrita,

That is the point I am trying to make. You can apply even though you have not graduated AND with your CS pending :)
All that matters in the end is that you graduate by July of the next year and have all your degrees before you start residency.

  7. Hi Sir...could you tell me about range of your scores...I am applying for Psychiatry...

  8. @sameer- Updated the scores and research :)

@akriti: Please do not call me sir :D and best advice would be to look at the charting outcomes by NRMP and see the mean. and try to score above it :)

    1. I took a chance and applied logically. For me it paid off.

Do not recommend applying to only these many if you do not want to take a chance.

      Pediatrics :/

      Best of luck :)

  10. @Sameer:Neil applied in Paeds...My step 1 didn't go great but it is well above mean.I also have an ICMR project to my credit...didn't know it has a role in the final!

    1. ICMR project- the value depends on how you project it :P

If you make it sound like this is a killer project then should be good. if you make it sound just like any other project then it wont make an impact :P in short sell yourself :)

      Best of luck :)

  11. hey! i hav got 3 qstns exactly
    1) do we have to submit internship completed certificate anywhere excluding ecfmg credential verification?
    2) if we submit to eras without ecfmg credentials then are we considered second preference compared to the one who has submitted their credentials (considering same scores and all)?
    3) upto what month should we DEFINITELY be completed with ecfmg credential verification?

    1. 1- Dont think you give your internship completion certificate anywhere. Only your degree certificate is used for verification
2- I do not think so. But some colleges need you to be ECMFG certified prior to applying.
3- I completed mine by October. Did not want to take a chance there.

    1. H Rizwan,

I am like one of you guys only. I would just say get an elective if you dont have one and focus on step 2 and finish them asap and get ready for this years match if you can :)

      Best of luck :)

  19. Hello Neil!

Superb blog! I'm immensely grateful to have stumbled on (lol well not exactly but came across after you posted your blog in Fb) to this. I am just starting out. Just freshly graduated so you can imagine HOW informative this was for me. Akin to a beacon. :)
Do keep the helping spirit alive and will seek help if doubts spring up.
    have a wonderful Residency journey!

  20. Hi! I am done with step 1 and cs, and will be appearing for ck in July/August. Since the exam pattern is currently changing, all exams given after July 10th will report the results on Sep 14th, and after that I'll have to wait for 2 weeks for ecfmg certification. Since I'll have all my scores by Sep 14th, will I be considered ecfmg certified by the univ having that as a selection criteria for interview? And how much difference does it make in terms of interviews if I get ecfmg certification by end of September. I am worried I'll have to end up take ck before July 10th and I won't be well prepared by then. Thanks in advance!

    1. @Pallavi-
Q1 - You are not ecfmg certified until you get the certificate I believe.

Q2 - How much difference does it make in terms of interviews if I get ecfmg certification by end of September-Does not make a difference
